BC parents are tired of watching the government allow the needless suffering and death of children and parents.

How can we allow the kind of suffering that would lead a person to murder their own children and then commit suicide themselves? Suffering so bad and tragic that killing your family was a better alternative can not be acceptable in Canada.

In Canada, this sort of suffering exists and recent deaths are easy to find:

Stop this insanity. Attend the next rally to show our government the unnecessary suffering and death of our children must stop!

Where:
Premier Gordon Campbell’s Constituency Office
3615 West 4th Ave
Vancouver, BC

When:
Friday, November 13th, 2009
12:00 Noon

Why should you attend?

    * The recent tragic deaths of two Canadian children with autism, killed at the hands of their own parents, is a wake up call! The status qua is putting the health of children and their very lives in jeopardy.
    * September’s announcement by the Ministry of Children and Family Development has shown that our government is not concerned about the rights and needs of some of its most vulnerable citizens.
    * No legislation or mandate exists to deliver health care to children with autism or to protect and enshrine their right to their medically necessary treatment. What little individualized funding being provided now is in jeopardy of being taken away.
    * Autism is an epidemic! According to the Center for Disease Control, it now affects one in every 100 children in North America.
    * It is time for our provincial government to recognize its responsibility to act and to demonstrate leadership for the rest of Canada!

Who should attend?

    * Parents, grandparents, friends, consultants, therapists, anyone who is concerned about this injustice to our children. We urge you all to attend this rally!

maybe those with aspergers slipped through the net and were not included in statistics, but those with classic autism cannot go unoticed and they are increasing in numbers unless parents were hiding them from schools and health visitors which is highly unlikely

I'm glad to hear they are taking more actions to help all of us with Celiac Disease since even a crumb of gluten can make someone sick if they are really sensitive!

I know for sure that my son Sebastian is an autistic savant. He is 10 years old and mainstreamed in school, with an aide. His drawing abilities are astonishing. He drew long before he spoke. He also knows many authors, directors, and composers by memory. Also he has taught himself many, many languages from the internet. French, Spanish, German, some Icelandic, Russian, Portuguese. He always changes the languages on DVDs to memorize the movie in at least Spanish and French. His favorite language by far is French. He sings in French and recites movies in French. I know Spanish and some French. I can ask him how to say anything in French and he is always correct. His latest obsession is for instruments. He knows the difference between a sousaphone and a saxophone. He is slowly collecting them (mostly handmade by my husband). So far he has two tambourines, a conga drum, a ukelele, small violin made out of wood and fishing line, a recorder, a guitar and two maracas. He wants to play the trumpet desperately, but we cannot afford to buy one-yet. He loves to sculp small Tubas, trumpets and flutes out of clay. I have been searching online for resources for him and me to connect with people who would be interested in him, how best to help him utilize his skills, or have savant children themselves.
Thank you for your website!
