<description>I know for sure that my son Sebastian is an autistic savant. He is 10 years old and mainstreamed in school, with an aide. His drawing abilities are astonishing. He drew long before he spoke. He also knows many authors, directors, and composers by memory. Also he has taught himself many, many languages from the internet. French, Spanish, German, some Icelandic, Russian, Portuguese. He always changes the languages on DVDs to memorize the movie in at least Spanish and French. His favorite language by far is French. He sings in French and recites movies in French. I know Spanish and some French. I can ask him how to say anything in French and he is always correct. His latest obsession is for instruments. He knows the difference between a sousaphone and a saxophone. He is slowly collecting them (mostly handmade by my husband). So far he has two tambourines, a conga drum, a ukelele, small violin made out of wood and fishing line, a recorder, a guitar and two maracas. He wants to play the trumpet desperately, but we cannot afford to buy one-yet. He loves to sculp small Tubas, trumpets and flutes out of clay. I have been searching online for resources for him and me to connect with people who would be interested in him, how best to help him utilize his skills, or have savant children themselves.
